Allahabad Cantonment was established in the year 1857 covering a total area of 4464.6939 acres including civil area of 142.7129 acres. As per Census figures of 2011, the total civil area population in Allahabad Cantonment is 26904.
Allahabad Cantonment Board is an autonomous body under the aegis of Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. Allahabad Cantonment is a Category II Cantonment. The Board consists of 14 Members including 7 elected members. The Station Commander is ex-officio President of the Board. The Vice President is elected out of 7 elected members of the Board. The Chief Executive Officer is from the cadre of Indian Defence Estates Services, under the Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India and he acts as the Secretary of the Board.
